- I suspect all the individuals below in the 1841 Census, were living in the Large House on Sheffield Road near to 'Bower Fold. Sheffield Road later became 'Mottram Road' and many large well appointed house were built in this Upper Class area. - There may be some confusion arise with both HUGH and ALICE Lawton, as another family of Hugh Lawton with a daughter Alice were living in close proximity at Rook hall Farm, in Old Mottram Road, Stayley at the same time, and the ages of both Alice Lawton's was about the same 1822/23 - I need to clearly identify which Alice is which to establish the individual 'Lawton' families. - I also need to verify if 'Nancy Lawton' was the wife of Hugh or perhaps the sister.
