- This Edward Browne died @ Billiter Street on 21st March 1827 as an Infant aged 1 Year and 6 Months.
- I arrived at this Marriage to Eliza Todd, by means of deduction, resoning and coincidence, after many hours of searching London records and still think I may not have the correct Wife and marriage here, as details seem to fit very well with each individuals chronological statistics. - but not the Fathers details.spouse: (Ii), John Clempson Browne (1815 - 1889)
One of the features that enable this couple (John Clempson Browne) and (Eliza Todd) to be readily identified in records, is the realtive age difference of some 14 years, that is, John Clempson Browne being born in 1815 and Eliza Todd being born about 1829 or 1830. - Although John Clempson Browne was aged 35 years when he married in 1850, he is still recorded as a Batchelor on the Marriage Register, and Eliza Todd as a Spinster (although this marriage is questonable) - John Clempson Browne must have made-up for lost time in fathering 9 children into his late 50's - He died in 1889 at the age of 74 years, whilst his Widow Eliza Browne continued as Head of the Family
- Married in 1907

- NOTES: George Dean Browne - Born: 16th September 1811 and Baptised 6th October 1811at St. Hallows, Staining. Son of John Clempson Browne & May Samsum, Father is shown as a 'Glazier' living in Billiter Lane, Aldgate, London.spouse: Davies, Ann (~1815 - )
It would appear that George Dean Browne and his wife Ann (Davies) Browne were childless throughout their marriage. No issue has been found in any early Census returns and by the 1861 Census, George Dean Browne was deceased, as his wife Ann Browne is a widow still living at No.38 Crown Street, Shoreditch.
1881 - Aged 14 years (Scholar) at 94 Houndsditch, St. Botolph, Aldgate, London.
I cannot place this John Clempson Browne as yet!

- NOTES: - The Mossley and Saddleworth Reporter - 24th July 1926. - Mossley couple's troubles - Magistrate urges "Common sense and peace" - "Jealousy at bottom of it all".spouse: Reoch, Andrew R (1890 - 1972)
Alleging that her husband insulted her in the street, last Wednesday, used bad language and snatched a bangle off her arm, Amy WRIGLEY, of Stamford Street, applied at the Mossley Court, on Thursday, for a maintenance order on the grounds of persistent cruelty, against her husband, Gilbert WRIGLEY, of Tonge Bottom Farm.
Complainant said they were married in May 1918, and lived at Arundel Arms with her parents. Twice they parted owing to defendant's conduct. he ill-used her and once she had to fetch a policeman to him. Later she lived at the farm with defendant and his parents. She again left him in February 1925, and has since worked in the mill.
The Clerk (Mr V. C. PROCTOR): Why did you leave him the last time?.
Complainant explained that her mother was ill, but she did not go back because of defendant's conduct. He went upstairs once and kicked a door off. "Jealousy is at the bottom of it all" exclaimed witness.
Mr J. E. RHODES (magistrate): Did he strike you in the street last Wednesday? - Witness: Yes.
Mr C. M. W. ELLIOTT, barrister (instructed by Messrs. BOSTOCK and WESTBROOK, Hyde), for defendant, contended that on the wife's statement there was not sufficient prima facia evidence. It was a case in which two such young people should not be parted. The trouble had arisen because the parties apparently, did not like their parents-in-law. The wife contended she was not comfortable at the farm, but, defendant's parents would be leaving shortly, and the couple could then be left to themselves. "As for the allegation of persistent cruelty I don't think I have anything at all to answer. It seems rather a waste of time".
The Clerk: Yes, but you must hear the evidence.
Mrs Maria BARDSLEY, the wife's sister, said they had been knocked up at night when there had been trouble. She had seen bruises on her sister the day after complaints of ill-usage. "Jealousy was the beginning of everything".
The Mayor (to complainant): Are you willing to go back to the farm when defendant is left on his own? - Yes, but he ought to keep me until then. It is 32 weeks since he gave me any money.
Mr ELLIOTT: He is only willing to keep you if you go back and help him in his business.
Defendant said he was quite willing that his wife should come back. He now had the farm himself, and his people were seeking other accommodation.
Mr RHODES (magistrate) said it was a great pity that two such young people should come to court, and that these things should happen. He advised them to look at the matter sensibly, and try and get together and live peaceably. "Whatever the provocation, however, I do not think defendant ought to strike his wife.
Mr ELLIOTT: We don't admit any striking. Defendant in his evidence will deny that he did strike her.
Eventually the case was adjourned for two months, the parties proceeding to the Mayor's Parlour "to see if matters could be arranged".

[Edmund, son of Edmund and Nelly Buckley, Andrew Mill, drowned, Buried. 27th January 1810; Edmund, son of Edmund and Ellen Buckley, Stayleybridge; Bur. 19th March 1811; James, son of Edmund Buckley, Stayley Bridge, Bur. 14th January 1814 aged 19y 10m; Esther Buckley, Stayley Bridge, Bur. 3rd February 1837 aged 44 years; Alice, wife of James[sic] Buckley, Stayley Bridge, Bur. 29th March 1836 aged 36 years; Benjamin Buckley, Staleybridge, Bur. 10th December 1848 aged 41 years.]
He is definitely not the Edmund baptised 24th Feb 1765, son of John & Ann Buckley. This one married Mary Bentley 1 Dec 1790 and was buried 18 Nov 1822 aged 57 years with an Admin granted September 1824.
Looks as though the age at death ties up with the baptism in 1767. Also the eldest son would appear to be a James so that would tie in with Edmund's father being James of Highmoor. Unfortunately at the moment I can't place this James on any of my trees. I'll keep looking though.
