- Seeing that Mary Buckey was aged 60 years in 1841, that would equate with her being born about 1781. As persons were usually of 'Full Age' before being married in the Anglican Church, it would be more likely that Mary and William were married around 1800 - rather than 1795/96.

- It appears that Charles's Parents and Family all died at Cople, Bedford before 1871 and Charles was left alone. - He apparently must have decided to leave the land working as a Farm Labourer and gained employment with the London North Western Railway Company as perhaps firstly a 'Pointsman' manually swithing railway points in the track, and then progressed to a Signalman and Pointsman in charge of a Railway Signal Box. - He obviously was moved around the Country and re-located to the Sandbach area of Cheshire between 1861 and 1871 when we find Charles at Congleton.Occupation -

Death Note
Reginald Church died today Wednesday 5th June 2013 at 11:50.a.m.
He wrote his own Eulogy on the 4th August 2005. - For Whoever conducts my Service. A Brief Outline of My Life. - Signed: Reg Church 4th Aug 05
I was born on 26th July 1919 and lived most of my early life in Elworth near Sandbach. I was employed as a Joiner in the Building Trade all my working life. In 1939 when War broke out, I was called up, and was in the 6th Royal Tank Regiment for Five and a quarter years, over three of which were abroad, seeing service in El Alamein, North East Africa, Italy, Austria, and Germany.
In 1950 I met Hilda in Manchester, we were engaged and married in 1951 on October 17th. enjoying our honeymoon in Capel Curig, North Wales. We made our home in Congleton. I was very fortunate to have such a pleasant and supportive wife to share so much of my life with, she who showed so much courage when she had leg problems in her later life, sadly I lost her in Jan 1996 and have lived alone since. I have enjoyed country walking and mountaineering for a good part of my life, starting in the Isle of Slye in 1939 and still am able to enjoy my walking with my friend Stan.Re: Reginald Church
Reginald Church was born on July 26th 1919 in Bucklow Cheshire to Elizabeth (Lizzie) Church. He was brought up by his Uncle Edward (Ted) and Auntie Bertha In Elworth because his mother Elizabeth (Lizzie) was in domestic service. He had his two cousins, Laurence and Marian, who were like a brother and sister to him. He went to Elworth Primary school but lived for a time in Bispham, Blackpool where his Uncle Ted, Auntie Bertha and his mother Lizzie ran a boarding house before they all returned to Elworth. He was awarded a scholarship and attended a Grammar School in Blackpool. Reg was very proud and pleased that his name was included on the honours board at Elworth CE Primary School.
We believe that after being in the army during the 2nd World War in Europe, Reg returned to Elworth and worked with his cousin Laurence at Laurence Church Ltd. Joiners and Builders until Laurence retired in 1974. He then worked for Congleton Borough Council in the maintenance department until retirement.
Reg met his future wife, Hilda Broadbent at a cafâe in Manchester and got chatting. (As you might know they were very good at talking!) He proposed at The Pavilion Gardens, Buxton and they were married in December 1951 in Manor Park, Glossop where Hilda lived and by that time worked in the mills. Hilda and Reg were devoted to each other, latterly Reg nursing Hilda through chronic arthritis leading to bad leg ulcers, always remaining cheerful. In fact his wry sense of humour is something most people who knew him will remember, particularly his teasing about married life with a twinkle in his eye and Hilda scolding him with a laugh!
Reg was a member at The Avenue Methodist Church Elworth from a child and continued travelling every week from Congleton to serve as a steward until it closed. He was a very talented piano player and could play beautifully without music which was a real gift. His nieces Fiona, Heather and Alison fondly remember him playing at their parents’, Laurence and Betty’s house on a Sunday evening, accompanying Hilda singing hymns. His passion was walking especially in Wales, the Peak District and on the Roaches. He continued this activity well into his 80s.
Reg and Hilda lived a happy life at Nordene, Giantswood Lane, Congleton where he continued living independently until he made the decision to move into Clayton Manor Care Home where he received good care and support.
Reg was a much loved member of the Church family.

I have found on the 1841 census a Alexander Nicholls age 45 and a watch polisher/finisher with a Joseph Nicholls aged 9 who may be your Joseph who marries in 1852. They are living at 15 Spa Cottages , Lloyds Row, Clerkenwell, London. - The reason i have interest in them that a 18 year old William Dunn silversmith is boarding with them and he may possibly be apprenticed to Alexander. I need to find out more on him.spouse: Spencer, Elizabeth Ward (Clarke) (~1823 - )
