Moss, Jane (1821 - ) - female
b. APR_JUN 1821 in Quick, Saddleworth, Yorkshire.

father: Moss, Joseph (1781 - 1847)
mother: Rowley, Sarah (~1782 - 1843)
- 1851 Census - Aged 30 (Cotton Spinner's Wife) @ Quickedge, Lydgate, Saddleworth. - A Hannah Shuttleworth (Niece) aged 12 years living with family at Quickedge.
- 1861 Census - Aged 40 (Cotton Reeler) @ Quickview, Roughtown, Saddleworth. - Amelia Hulley (Mother-in-Law) aged 62 living with family at Quickview.
- 1871 Census - Aged 50 (Cotton Reeler) @ Quickedge Lane, Sandbed, Brookbottom, Saddleworth.

- NOTES: - Both Mary and Jane Moss were the daughters of Joseph Moss (Carter) and Sarah (Rowley) Moss of Midge Hill, Quick, Saddleworth.

- Mary Moss married Joseph Shuttleworth on 31st March 1839 at St. Michaels Church, Mottram - Just two months later Mary (Moss) Shuttleworth was widowed when Joesph Shuttleworth dird on the 2nd June 1839 and left his now pregnant widow to bear his child Hannah Moss Shuttleworth just nine months later in Jan_Mar 1840 - Mary (Moss) Shuttleworth was to survive her husband by only three further years, and she herself died a Widow aged only 25 years, at Midge Hill, Haddens, Quick, on the 9th September 1843, leaving her daughter Hannah an orphan.

- Mary's younger sister Jane Moss then married Samuel Lawton at Manchester Cathedral on 28th July 1844, and the couple were to act as foster parents to their Niece and Orphan Hannah Moss Shuttleworth,

- I suspect this is why some IGI records make the assumption that Samuel Lawton married 'Jane Shuttleworth' which is quite incorrect.
