- James Schofield married Alice Whitworth in August 1785 - the 'Banns' register Saddleworth Church Entry No. 1307 dated 31st July 1785 records "Both of Greenfield End". (Alice probably at 'Furlane' where her father Christopher died in 1784)

Ann Quade's database of Marriages says that James was the son of Benjamin and Mary Scholefield of Grange who was Baptised 10th July 1763 at St. Chad's Saddleworth Church. (This information does not appear in radcliffes Baptism Registers and is very debatable and I would disagree with this parentage - Rather this James Schofield is more likely to be the son of John Schofield & Alice Platt of Arthurs, Greenfield, born at Road End or Greenfield End, in the village of Greenfield, Saddleworth.
----------child: Whitworth, Esther (1759 - )Marriage Note
- Marriage recorded in Radcliffe Registers as 1759/00/00, with no specific date, which makes me suspect that it was only the Marriage Banns posted at St. Chad's in 1759 and the couple were married elsewhere, most likely at Mottram Church.
- This information in the IGI Birth/Baptism Records is not from official Church Registers and may be a supposition. Whilst Christopher Whitworth did marry an Elizabeth (Betty) ??? - He is more likely to be the Christopher Whitworth baptised in Mottram Parish Church on 6th December 1741 and who married in 1759 aged 18 years. - That part of Greenfield / Friezland east of Chew Brook came under the ecclesiatical district of Mottram in Longdendale befor 1800spouse: Whitworth, Betty (Elizabeth) (~1740 - )
