Ellis and Grace lived in Tideswell and their family were lead miners and reasonably comfortable. They did not have a son John A significant clue to my line is the persistence of the family names JOHN and GEORGE, also the reoccurrence of WILLIAM .ANTHONY and AVICE. I was to be William John. But as there were already two of my cousins with those fore names my father changed the mould.spouse: Stevenson, Grace (~1682 - )
It is believed that the Tideswell Oldfields were originally from Cheshire and the Ashford Oldfields were from North Yorkshire via Lincolnshire . This is yet to be confirmed. I am in correspondence with a fellow in the south island NZ who is a descendent of the Yorkshire Oldfields, Anthony is a family name of theirs.

The result is a line of farms and settlements at the base of the escarpment. Settlements at Luscott, Easthopewood, Lower and Upper Hill farms and Blakeway. Radcliffe Marriage Register records John Scholefield (Clothier) married Alice Platt of 'Wood', which could be either "Wood" at Dobcross (Later to be termed Wood Lane) or " Wood" at Castleshaw or even " Wood" at Stayley. But it seems more likely that it could be the former as both John Schofield's parents could well be James & Mary Scholefield of Hollingreave, Dobcross.spouse: Scholefield, John (~1738 - )
The IGI Records have this Alice Platt of "Wood", Devon, England, but that is conjecture.
